You Know, For The Next Time You’re In The Big Apple

New Yorkers are perpetually in search of a sprawling roof or terrace upon which to booze and schmooze overlooking stunning views of the city. The Ludlow, a boutique hotel on Manhattan’s relentlessly trendy Lower East Side, is offering an enviable option with its new Ludlow Penthouse.

The 450 square meter suite’s biggest perk is its outdoor terrace—a furnished 300 square meter party perch boasting sweeping views of One World Trade Center, the Williamsburg Bridge and all those unfortunate souls swilling R210 cocktails crammed inside Ludlow Street’s bustling strip of bars and restaurants below.

But The Ludlow—which has hosted the high-living likes of Rihanna, Harry Styles and top models Sara Sampaio and Lily Donaldson—has made sure that its 17th-floor suite is a veritable oasis high above the typical LES nightlife scrum.

Hotelier Sean MacPherson curated the R20 250-a-night suite’s funky decor, which counts Moroccan chandeliers, mod furniture and butt-shaped bronze stools courtesy of Italian artist Novello Finotti among its design flourishes.

Aside from the massive terrace, the coolest thing about the penthouse may be its throwback audio system, which includes a classic Technics 1200 turntable (the same kind used at Studio 54 back in the day), an Arnold Wolf for JBL floor speaker and a retro NYC-inspired vinyl collection.

MacPherson handpicked an eclectic mix of about 30 classic New York albums including Frank Sinatra and Bob Dylan, the Ramones and their CBGB compatriots, selections from the postpunk “No Wave” scene and early hip-hop, all the way up to the early 2000s rock revival spearheaded by skinny-jeaned local favorites The Strokes and Interpol.

The penthouse pad also boasts a full kitchen, a living room, dining room, skybox sitting area, two full bathrooms with rain showers (one of which features a windowed soaking tub) and a stylish bedroom with a king size bed.

After all, you’re gonna need somewhere to crash after the party’s over, right?
