If any modern supercar is deserving of fetishistic treatment, it’s the Porsche 918 Spyder. So it’s no wonder the luxe new about the R11 289 073 –plus hybrid beast from Germany’s Delius Klasing is actually three books in one.
There is a “picture book” filled with opulent images from all the development phases of the 918 Spyder from the brilliant Stefan Bogner; a “story book” that tells the thrilling tale of this car, which marks one of the decisive turning points in Porsche history; and finally a “fact book” filled with all the stats you could ever need.
The “story book” comes from the keyboard of journalist Jürgen Pander from Hamburg who takes the reader on a journey behind the otherwise strictly closed doors of the Porsche Development Centre in Weissach and onto an array of race tracks and proving grounds around the world.
You almost feel as if you were right there in the cockpit taking turns at 180 mph.
Gripping stuff, you could say….
